The Bounty Tankard

HMS BOUNTY

HMS Bounty Captained by Lt. William Bligh is famous for the mutiny which
took place on her in 1789 following a voyage to Tahiti to collect breadfruit trees.

The mutineers, lead by Fletcher Christian, put Bligh and 18 others
in an open boat and cast them adrift.

Bligh's party was rescued in Timor after an epic
4,000 mile journey of incredible hardships.

Suffering their own difficulties the mutineers reached
tiny Pitcairn Island where they burnt the Bounty.

On the 8th of June 1856 the mutineer's descendant's relocated to Norfolk Island,
that day now celebrated each year as "Bounty Day"
